A YouTuber known online as Captain Crunch Boats was stabbed from behind while livestreaming at a Clear Lake Park boat ramp on August 15, in the middle of a heated argument with a family of boaters that had nothing to do with the person who actually attacked him. The knife blade, roughly eight inches long, went through his ribs, and he suffered two to three additional deep lacerations across his back before the masked assailant fled into the crowd.
According to CW39 Houston, the Harris County Sheriff's Office said the streamer was arguing with a group of boaters when an unrelated person stabbed him, a detail that separates the verbal confrontation caught on video from the physical attack that followed. The livestream itself captured the argument, with the YouTuber repeatedly telling the family he was filming for “OnlyFans” near their children just before the stabbing, as detailed by Dexerto. The outlet reports the same stream audio also captured a woman shouting for the attacker to put the knife down.
Boaters Called 911 and Rendered Aid Despite the Dispute
Despite being in the middle of the shouting match, the family of boaters called 911, requested an ambulance, and physically aided the streamer until paramedics arrived, per the same account from Dexerto. CW39 Houston separately confirms that a group of boaters came to the victim's aid after the stabbing. The camera itself fell face-down during the assault, meaning the stabbing was captured on audio rather than video, and a bystander could be heard attempting to talk the attacker down in the moments after the blade struck.
The streamer, who goes by Captain Crunch Boats, was hospitalized on August 15 and released the following day with what CW39 Houston described as minor injuries. In a statement posted to an online fundraising page, he detailed the injuries himself: the eight-inch blade penetrated through his ribs, along with two to three deep lacerations across his back that missed his vital organs, according to the post on GiveSendGo.
Suspect Still Unidentified as Deputies Seek Public's Help
Harris County Sheriff's Office investigators are looking to identify the suspect from surveillance video captured in the area, but the footage shows the individual with his face obscured by a mask, according to CW39 Houston. Dexerto reports the sheriff's office is now appealing to the public for any additional video that might help identify him. The search for the person who reportedly stabbed the YouTuber continues, with no arrest announced as of the latest reporting.
Captain Crunch Boats runs a YouTube channel with more than 33,000 subscribers built largely around live streams and videos recorded at public boat ramps around the Clear Lake area, per Dexerto's reporting. He has described himself as a boat ramp videographer and First Amendment advocate, a persona that has previously put him at the center of confrontations with other boaters at the same ramps he regularly films.
A Park Built for Public Access, Now the Scene of a Violent Crime
Clear Lake Park is a 59-acre public park in Seabrook operated by Harris County Precinct 2, sitting along NASA Parkway with public boat ramps and fishing piers, according to the Houston Chronicle. The park falls under Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia's oversight, and the county completed a $380,000 renovation of the park's nearby fishing pier in April 2023 after Tropical Storm Nicholas severely damaged the facilities in 2021, the Chronicle reported. Precinct 2 also manages closures of the boat ramps during severe weather, including during Tropical Storm Arthur in June, issuing public safety advisories whenever the ramps shut down.
Under Texas Penal Code Section 22.02, assault committed with a deadly weapon such as a knife constitutes aggravated assault, a second-degree felony carrying two to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000, according to FindLaw. That charge would apply once investigators identify and arrest the masked suspect, though the sheriff's office has not named anyone in connection with the attack. For now, the identity of the person who stabbed Captain Crunch Boats remains an open question, and deputies are relying on the public to help fill in the gaps left by the obscured surveillance footage.
