Houston is about to host a Southern hip-hop family reunion with two heavyweight labels sharing the same arena bill. Master P’s No Limit and Birdman’s Cash Money are bringing a deep bench of veterans to Toyota Center this fall, turning a September concert into a live flashback for anyone who still has a camouflage phase in their closet.
BMN Entertainment lists the Cash Money & No Limit Tour’s Houston date for Friday, September 11, at Toyota Center. The downtown arena setting matches the oversized lineup and the tour’s larger-than-life Southern rap history.
According to the official Toyota Center event listing, doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. The Houston bill currently includes Birdman, Juvenile, Mannie Fresh, B.G., Master P, Silkk the Shocker, Mia X, Mac, Mercedes, Fiend, Choppa Style and Mr. Serv-On, with special guest Boosie BadAzz. Tickets are on sale now, though the venue notes that artists and event details can change.
Cash Money And No Limit Finally Share One Stage
Pollstar reported that the fall tour brings together the labels launched by Birdman and Master P, along with artists from both camps and Boosie. The result is less a single-headliner concert than a rolling catalog of Southern rap eras packed into one night.
Click2Houston reports that Houston was chosen as the first stop of a 17-city tour and that Cash Money and No Limit will share one stage for the first time. Master P said the event is meant to raise awareness of mental health, which he calls “mental strength,” and suggested it could be the last time the full group appears together. He also said “Make ’Em Say Uhh!” still gets the biggest reaction. The Houston connection is personal, too: He considers the city a second home after New Orleans families, including members of his own family, relocated there following Hurricane Katrina, and the stated dress code is camo.
