A Block With a Violent History
Friday's shooting is not the first act of gun violence on this particular stretch of Middle Street. Just over a year earlier, a fatal shooting on the same block killed 20-year-old Jayquon Taborn and wounded a 15-year-old girl inside a home, according to Spectacular Magazine. The suspect in that case was later arrested by U.S. Marshals in Goldsboro in August 2025, months after the killing.
