A Friday evening shooting in Milwaukee left a 65-year-old person dead, with a suspect taken into custody at the scene. Police are still working to determine what led to the gunfire.
The shooting happened around 5:30 p.m. in the 4600 block of North 50th Street, where the victim was found suffering from gunshot wounds and pronounced dead, according to TMJ4 News. Milwaukee police said one suspect was taken into custody at the scene while the investigation continued.
The killing comes against a mixed public-safety backdrop. In a May 5 release, City of Milwaukee officials said every FBI Part 1 crime category except theft was down year to date, while nonfatal shootings were 27% lower than at the same point in 2025. That snapshot predates Friday's homicide and does not explain this case, but it shows why each fatal shooting remains a major setback for the city's violence-reduction efforts.
