Ruben Altamirano Estrada, a 54-year-old Moreno Valley resident, was arrested without incident on Elmwood Street and now sits in custody on $1 million bail on suspicion of murder.
According to the official Riverside County Sheriff's Office press release, Perris Station deputies were dispatched at 6:59 p.m. Thursday to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon under case file #PC262390062. Patrol deputies arrived to find the victim on the ground suffering from injuries consistent with stab wounds, and paramedics attempted resuscitative measures, but the man died at the scene, according to MyNewsLA.com. Estrada is suspected of fatally stabbing the Mead Valley resident during a confrontation at the victim's property, per the outlet's report. Detectives with the Central Homicide Unit took over the investigation and, working with the same account, identified Estrada as the alleged perpetrator within a few hours of the attack. No possible motive has been provided, and background information on Estrada was not available, the report notes. Estrada was not injured during his arrest.
