A motorcyclist died Friday evening after colliding with an SUV on Seventh Avenue near Eton Court in Hesperia, a crash that shut down the busy two-lane corridor in both directions for roughly three hours. The rider, whose identity has not been released, suffered critical injuries and was transported to a hospital, where they were later pronounced deceased.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene at about 6:50 p.m. Friday and found the motorcycle, a blue Suzuki, mangled after colliding with a 2001 Toyota RAV4, according to Victor Valley News Group. San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Gloria Orejel confirmed the rider's death to the outlet. The SUV sustained significant damage to its driver's-side front corner, and preliminary information indicates the motorcyclist collided with the front driver's side of the RAV4.

The specific model of the motorcycle was not immediately available, and deputies had not identified the deceased rider as of the initial report. Deputies conducted their investigation at the scene while Seventh Avenue remained closed to traffic in both directions.
