A motorcyclist died late Monday after a solo crash on a curving Los Angeles freeway connector ended with the rider falling over the edge to the street below. The rider was found near South Figueroa and West 117th streets, close to the Harbor Freeway C Line Metro station.
According to the Los Angeles Times, California Highway Patrol officials said the crash happened around 11:20 p.m. on the connector from the eastbound 105 Freeway to the southbound 110 Freeway toward San Pedro. A caller reported that the motorcyclist had fallen onto the street below, where the rider was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The fatal crash was another grim reminder of the risks facing motorcyclists on Los Angeles County freeways. In February, Hoodline's earlier report detailed another deadly motorcycle collision on the southbound 110 near Adams Boulevard.
Freeway Connector Closed Into Early Morning
The 105-to-110 connector remained closed until about 2:15 a.m. as officers investigated the crash, the Los Angeles Times reported. Authorities had not publicly released the motorcyclist's name or provided additional details about what caused the rider to leave the elevated roadway.
