Jacksonville deputies were working two separate scenes roughly a mile apart Saturday afternoon in Northwest Jacksonville, including a reported shooting and a second call involving a person down. The conditions of anyone involved were not immediately known, and investigators had not said whether the incidents were connected.
According to News4JAX, JSO responded to a reported person shot at Effee Street and West 26th Street, where the street was taped off. At the other scene near Moncrief Road and Myrtle Avenue, officers were handling a person-down call, but JSO had not confirmed that a shooting occurred there.
The uncertainty comes as the Moncrief corridor has seen another recent shooting investigation. In June, 104.5 WOKV reported that a man in his 20s was shot in the upper thigh near Moncrief Road and West 21st Street and taken to a hospital by a passing motorist.
For Saturday’s incidents, JSO had not said whether a suspect was in custody, whether anyone had been transported or whether the two scenes involved the same people. As of the latest update from News4JAX, both investigations remained active and additional details were still pending.
