The selection comes as Adidas and Mahomes announced an expansion of the initiative, adding 13 new high school programs to an original group of 15, bringing the nationwide total to 28 schools wearing the Gladiator-branded gear, according to The Boca Raton Tribune. North Allegheny is one of the 13 newly added programs, joining a class that includes national powers like South Oak Cliff in Dallas, Corona Centennial in California, Christopher Columbus in Miami, and Bergen Catholic in New Jersey, all personally selected by Mahomes in collaboration with Adidas, per On3. North Allegheny's spot in the program follows a multi-year partnership the athletics department signed with Adidas America Inc. on July 27, 2026, according to the North Allegheny Sports Network. That agreement made the district one of Team Adidas' Top 20 Schools nationwide and provides discounted gear for district athletic teams and booster clubs, with BSN Sports serving as the official supplier distributing Adidas products throughout the school district.
Under the district's agreement, local booster clubs, youth sports organizations, and PTA groups can receive preferred pricing of up to 40% off retail on custom Adidas apparel and equipment, the Pittsburgh Ledger reports. Participation in the purchasing program is optional for community groups.
