North Columbus woke to a police investigation Saturday after gunfire on Teakwood Drive sent one person to the hospital. The victim was listed in stable condition, but detectives have not yet filled in what led to the shooting.
According to WSYX, Columbus police responded to reports of shots fired just before 2 a.m. One person was taken to a hospital and remained stable in the initial update. The report did not identify the person who was shot, announce an arrest or provide a possible motive, and police said the investigation was still underway.
Police Have Released Few Details
The shooting follows a separate northeast Columbus shooting in May that left one person critically injured while detectives worked to determine what happened. That case, like the Teakwood Drive investigation, initially offered residents more questions than answers.
For now, police have not said whether the Teakwood shooting was targeted, whether a suspect has been identified or what happened before officers arrived. The latest account from WSYX says investigators are continuing to work the case.
