Northwest Austin just got a new hangout where the dogs may have a better time than their owners. Brews and Paws pairs an off-leash park with cold drinks, food, shaded areas and some unusually serious ways for overheated pups to cool down.

The venue opened last Saturday as a 1.6-acre dog park built around the idea that people should not have to choose between socializing and spending time with their dogs. According to Community Impact, the Northwest Austin space includes a full-service bar, kitchen, air-conditioned co-working cabanas and day passes alongside monthly and annual memberships.

For the canine crowd, the setup includes a splash pad, water stations, shade and ice baths. The business says on its official website that it also offers free Wi-Fi, shared tables and a restaurant-style setting where owners can work, grab a meal or stay for a drink while their dogs play.

A Dog Park With A Social Calendar

Brews and Paws is planning regular dog meetups and happy hours, along with a monthly market featuring local vendors, Community Impact reports. That gives the venue a little more ambition than simply being a fenced-in place to throw a tennis ball while waiting for a burger.

There are rules before the fun starts: Dogs must be vaccinated, free of ticks and fleas, at least 4 months old, and spayed or neutered. The venue’s website also says owners must remain with their dogs, and the park is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
