Two men were walking through northwest Houston with ice cream Friday night when a car carrying four people pulled up and gunfire erupted. Both men were wounded, but police said they were in stable condition and there was no continuing threat to the public.
Officers were called around 10:20 p.m. to the 6100 block of West Tidwell Road after reports of gunfire, according to Click2Houston. One victim was struck in the side of his abdomen, while the other was shot in the arm.
One Person Detained Near Shooting Scene
First-arriving officers provided emergency care until Houston Fire Department crews transported both victims to a nearby hospital. Police said both men were listed in stable condition.
While canvassing the area, officers detained a person nearby who investigators believe may be connected to the shooting. Detectives are interviewing that person and said the individual provided information about the vehicle and the other people inside it, but police have not announced an arrest or charges.
Police Say Attack May Have Been Random
Investigators have found no indication that the victims knew the shooters, and authorities said the attack may have been random. The latest shooting adds to a recent string of violent incidents along the broader Tidwell Road corridor, which has also been the focus of earlier HPD investigations, as Hoodline previously reported.
