A motorcyclist believed to be in his 30s was hospitalized in serious condition Sunday after losing control on Oʻahu’s H-2 Freeway and striking the roadway.
The crash was reported Sunday afternoon near the Ka Uka off-ramp. KITV 4 Island News reported that Honolulu Emergency Medical Services responded at about 12:53 p.m. and took the rider to a nearby emergency room.
EMS said the motorcycle impact caused serious injuries and that the rider hit the roadway on his side. He was wearing a helmet when the crash happened, while officials had not provided additional details about what caused him to lose control or whether anyone else was involved.
The Ka Uka off-ramp has also been the scene of another serious motorcycle crash this year. In February, a 19-year-old rider was hospitalized after officials said he collided with a vehicle and was ejected at the same H-2 interchange, according to Hawaii News Now.
No further information about the rider’s condition was immediately available Monday.
