Oklahoma City is heading into another long stretch of triple-digit heat, with Saturday’s high near 103 and heat index values as high as 108. The morning starts mostly clear around 80 degrees, but a few showers or thunderstorms could interrupt the heat before the sky clears again.
Saturday Brings Brief Storm Chances
A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms lingers into Saturday morning, with another chance late afternoon and evening. The National Weather Service says storm activity will remain scattered, and a few storms could produce strong wind gusts. Southeast winds around 9 mph will do little to blunt the heat.
Sunday Stays Hot Before Monday’s 107
Saturday night should turn partly cloudy with a low near 75 after the storm chance fades. Sunday is forecast to be mostly sunny with a high near 103 and heat index values up to 108, followed by Monday’s projected high of 107 under mostly sunny skies. Monday’s west-southwest wind around 13 mph may make outdoor conditions especially harsh.
Some Relief Arrives Midweek, But Not Much
Tuesday stays near 103, then highs dip to about 99 on Wednesday and Thursday before Friday rebounds to 101. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms returns late Wednesday into early Thursday, but most daytime periods look mostly sunny. Overnight lows range from the mid-70s to around 80, offering limited relief after sunset.
Plan Around The Afternoon Heat
The forecast package lists no active alert for Oklahoma City, but heat-index readings near 108 can still be dangerous, especially for older adults, children, people without reliable air conditioning and anyone working outdoors. The City of Oklahoma City points residents toward air-conditioned spaces and heat-safety resources; residents should drink water, take frequent breaks and move strenuous activity to the cooler parts of the day.
