Saturday should remain dry through most of the day, with southeast winds between 1 and 8 mph. Clouds will build at times, but the afternoon still looks warm and seasonable, with temperatures reaching the upper 80s.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to become more likely after 8 p.m. Saturday, with a 60% chance of precipitation and a low around 69. The National Weather Service says rainfall could total between a tenth and a quarter of an inch overnight.
Sunday Brings The Weekend’s Biggest Weather Concern
Sunday, August 2, looks wetter and cooler, with showers and thunderstorms possible from the morning into the afternoon and evening. The high is expected to reach about 81 degrees, with a 70% chance of rain and possible rainfall totals between a quarter and half an inch.
The National Weather Service says the Pittsburgh region remains under a Marginal Risk, or level 1 out of 5, for severe storms Sunday afternoon and evening. Damaging wind is the main concern, while locally heavy rain could develop if storms track over the same areas.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue Sunday night, when temperatures dip to around 68 degrees. With an 80% chance of precipitation, outdoor plans may need a backup plan — and anyone hearing thunder should move indoors.
Storm Chances Linger Into Next Week
The unsettled pattern is expected to stick around through much of next week. Monday brings a high near 84 with scattered showers and thunderstorms, while Tuesday and Wednesday reach about 85 degrees with afternoon or daytime storm chances.
Showers and thunderstorms remain possible Thursday and Friday, with highs near 86 and overnight lows in the upper 60s. Saturday is the best window for mostly dry outdoor plans, but the forecast turns noticeably wetter starting Saturday night.
