Sacramento woke to clear skies and low-60s temperatures Monday, but the valley is headed for one more hot afternoon before the week finally eases back. Highs are expected to reach about 95 degrees, and a Heat Advisory remains in effect for the Sacramento metro area through 10 p.m. Monday.
Monday Brings One More Hot Push
According to the National Weather Service Sacramento, sunny skies will pair with south-southwest winds of 5 to 9 mph and gusts up to 18 mph. The broader region is under widespread Moderate HeatRisk, with areas of Major HeatRisk, while hot, dry and breezy conditions are raising fire-weather concerns in the northern Sacramento Valley and nearby foothills.
Cooler Air Arrives In Stages
Monday night should stay clear, with temperatures dipping to around 62 degrees. Tuesday and Wednesday will remain sunny but slightly cooler, with highs near 94 and 93, respectively.
Thursday brings the biggest change, with a high near 88 and a slight chance of light rain before 11 a.m. Rain chances are only 15%, so umbrellas are hardly required, but Friday should stay near 88 before next weekend rebounds modestly to around 90 under mostly sunny skies.
Heat Safety Still Matters Monday
Residents should limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest afternoon hours, drink plenty of water and take breaks in air conditioning or shade. The City of Sacramento also recommends checking on older adults, children and people without reliable cooling, and never leaving anyone or any pet in a parked vehicle.
