H Mart’s Orlando food hall is about to get a lot bigger. The Asian supermarket giant has finished construction on a Phase 2 expansion of its food hall at 7501 W. Colonial Drive, adding six new vendors that will open to the public on August 21 at 10:30 a.m.
The new lineup includes bb.q Chicken, Sorimmara, Curry 88, Seoul Hotteok, Mari Mari, and Dduk Dabang, according to the West Orange Times & Observer. Starting August 21, the food hall stalls will run from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, with the outlet reporting that final orders will be taken 30 minutes before closing, at 8:30 p.m. H Mart will host a grand opening for the expansion that same morning at the West Colonial Drive location.
Among the new additions, bb.q Chicken carries the most name recognition. The South Korean fried chicken franchise was founded in 1995 and now operates more than 3,500 locations across over 30 countries, according to Nation's Restaurant News. The chain's name stands for “Best of the Best Quality,” and it specializes in olive-oil double-fried chicken.
New Flavors Join the Food Hall Lineup
Sorimmara brings K-Malatang to the food hall — a customizable, Sichuan-influenced spicy soup and stir-fry concept. The franchise operates roughly 200 locations in Korea alongside a growing number of U.S. outposts, per Mouth by Southwest. Seoul Hotteok, meanwhile, specializes in the stuffed, pan-fried Korean griddle pancakes that are typically filled with melted brown sugar, cinnamon, nuts, or savory ingredients — one of South Korea's most recognized traditional street snacks.
The Phase 2 expansion doubles the food hall's dining choices, H Mart President Brian Kwon said in an August announcement carried by PRLog. The food hall is attached to the store's supermarket floor, which spans more than 100,000 square feet on its own.
A Long-Awaited Florida Flagship
The West Colonial Drive location marked H Mart's first store in Florida when it opened on September 25, 2025, after more than four years of local anticipation, according to Orlando Weekly. An H Mart affiliate had purchased the 17.9-acre Westland Terrace Plaza property back in February 2021, redeveloping a former SuperTarget building that had sat vacant for nearly 12 years. The resulting store spans nearly 197,000 square feet, making it one of H Mart's largest footprints in the country, per WFTV.
Phase 1 of the food hall, which opened alongside the main store last year, featured vendors including Paris Baguette, Oh K-Dog & Egg Toast, Myung Ga Korean BBQ, Paik's Noodle, Jaws Tapokki, U Chun, and Chidon, along with retail shops such as K-beauty store Aritaum, the Orlando Weekly reported. Hoodline previously covered that opening-day debut as well as the store's earlier site plans.
H Mart's Growing Florida Footprint
Founded in 1982 by Il Yeon Kwon in Woodside, Queens, H Mart has grown over four decades into the nation's largest Asian-American supermarket chain, with roughly 90 to 100 locations across the United States, according to FOX 35 Orlando. The chain originally catered to Korean immigrant communities in New York before expanding nationwide.
H Mart's Florida ambitions haven't stopped in Orlando. H Mart-linked entities purchased a commercial property in Jacksonville for $13.25 million in 2026 for potential expansion, a move that reflects the chain's growing presence in the state — one that Hoodline has reported contributed to the July closure of Tampa's 35-year-old Kim Bros. Korean Market. Large-format Asian grocers like H Mart continue to reshape the state's ethnic food retail landscape, even as they draw crowds to new locations.
Shoppers heading to the Orlando food hall should note that its hours differ from the main store's. While the food hall stalls will operate from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. starting August 21, the overall H Mart supermarket keeps broader daily hours of 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., according to WFTV.
