Orlando Sizzles at 94 Before Daily Thunderstorms Slam City All Week

Orlando woke to clear skies, calm winds and temperatures near 75 degrees Saturday morning. The quiet start will give way to a steamy afternoon, with thunderstorms returning after noon and the heat index reaching about 103.

Clear Morning, Stormier Afternoon

The National Weather Service expects temperatures to climb to around 93 to 94 degrees across Orlando. East-southeast winds will increase to 10 mph or more as the sea breeze pushes inland, helping storms become more numerous later in the day.

The strongest storms could produce frequent lightning, wind gusts up to 55 mph, and heavy downpours. Quick rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches may cause minor, localized flooding, so outdoor plans should include a way to get indoors quickly when thunder arrives.

Wetter Pattern Takes Over Next Week

Saturday night turns partly cloudy with a low near 77 and a 30% chance of showers or thunderstorms before 9 p.m. Sunday brings a higher storm chance, with showers and thunderstorms likely after 8 a.m., a high near 92, and a heat index near 102.

Rain chances remain elevated Monday and Tuesday at roughly 60% to 70%, while highs stay near 92 degrees. Wednesday through Friday should remain hot, with highs around 93 to 94 and daily chances for afternoon or evening storms near 50%.

At East Central Florida beaches, forecasters are also calling for a moderate risk of rip currents on Saturday. Swimmers should stay near lifeguards, follow posted beach flags, and avoid entering the water alone.
