Showers and thunderstorms could develop after 2 p.m. Monday, with a 40% chance of rain and only light southwest winds around 5 mph. Most rainfall totals are expected to stay below a tenth of an inch, but stronger storms could produce wind gusts of 45 to 55 mph.
Storm chances ease after 8 p.m., leaving a partly cloudy night with a low near 76 degrees. Anyone spending time outdoors should head inside at the first sound of thunder, especially as gusty storms could affect parks, patios and other exposed areas.
Rain Chances Rise Midweek
Tuesday will remain mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 94 and a 50% chance of afternoon thunderstorms. The wettest stretch arrives Wednesday through Friday, when storm chances reach 70% each afternoon and highs remain in the low to mid-90s.
Scattered storms are expected to continue into the weekend, with a 60% chance Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's high should reach about 94 degrees, while Sunday may top out near 93, with storms possibly arriving earlier in the day.
