Orlando is starting Monday clear, warm and deeply humid, with temperatures in the mid-70s before a fast climb into the 90s. The forecast calls for a high near 94 degrees, a heat index near 103, and a small chance of afternoon thunderstorms.
Heat Builds Before The Storm Window
Mostly sunny skies should hold through early afternoon, with showers and thunderstorms becoming possible after 2 p.m. Monday. Rain chances are around 20%, and most spots may stay dry, but any storm that forms could bring a brief downpour, frequent lightning and gusty winds.
South to southeast winds will stay light at 5 mph or less. The National Weather Service in Melbourne says isolated stronger storms across east central Florida could produce wind gusts of 30 to 50 mph and locally heavy rain.
Hotter Days Stretch Into The Weekend
Storm chances should fade by about 8 p.m. Monday, followed by partly cloudy skies and an overnight low near 76. Tuesday looks even hotter, with a high near 95, a heat index up to 105 and another slight chance of storms after 2 p.m.
Wednesday may be the driest day, with sunny skies and a high near 96, but the heat barely lets up afterward. Highs near 95 are expected Thursday through Sunday, with spotty afternoon storm chances returning Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Plan Around The Heat And Lightning
Outdoor plans will be most comfortable early in the day, before the afternoon heat peaks. Drink water regularly, take breaks in air conditioning or shade, and move inside as soon as thunder is heard; lightning can arrive before the rain does.
