Pittsburgh is starting Sunday clear and around 68°F, with plenty of sunshine expected to push the city toward a hot afternoon high near 88°F. It is the calm before a much wetter stretch, with thunderstorms returning Monday and sticking around through much of Wednesday.
Sunday’s west wind should stay manageable at 3 to 7 mph, while temperatures ease only to around 70°F overnight. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms arrives after 4 a.m. Monday, but the bigger weather shift comes later in the day.
Storm Chances Jump Monday
Monday brings an 80% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mostly cloudy skies and a high near 87°F. The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh says some storms could become strong, with damaging wind gusts the main concern and hail or an isolated tornado also possible.
Heavy rain is another concern, with a quarter-inch to a half-inch possible Monday and Monday night. The forecast discussion also warns that repeated downpours could create localized flooding, especially where storms track over the same areas.
Wet Pattern Continues Through Wednesday
Tuesday looks like the wettest day of the stretch, with a 90% chance of showers and thunderstorms, a high near 84°F and possible rainfall between a half-inch and three-quarters of an inch. Wednesday stays unsettled with a 70% rain chance and a high around 83°F.
Conditions gradually improve Thursday, when rain and thunderstorm chances drop to about 30% and the high reaches 81°F. Friday should be partly sunny with a high near 79°F, while Saturday looks mostly sunny before a slight afternoon storm chance returns.
For outdoor plans, Sunday is the clear favorite: warm, bright and mostly dry from morning through evening. Anyone traveling or planning activities Monday through Wednesday should keep weather alerts on, allow extra time for sudden downpours and never drive through water covering a roadway.
