A 36-year-old man was found stabbed to death on a Queens street Saturday afternoon, turning a busy Long Island City area into a homicide scene. Police said the victim suffered multiple stab wounds, and no arrests have been announced.
Officers responded after receiving a 911 call about a man who needed aid at 12:54 p.m. on Hunter Street in Long Island City, according to PIX11. Responding officers found the 36-year-old unconscious and unresponsive, while emergency medical personnel declared him dead at the scene.
Police Investigation Remains Ongoing
Authorities reported that the man was a homicide victim, but they have not announced an arrest in connection with the stabbing. The investigation remains active as detectives work to determine what led to the attack and who was responsible.
The killing comes as New York City police report historically low homicide numbers for the first half of 2026, with 122 murders recorded through June 30, down 24.7% from the same period last year, according to the NYPD. Those citywide figures do not lessen the immediate impact of a fatal stabbing in Long Island City, where the case is now being investigated as a local homicide.
