According to the National Weather Service, the best chance for a shower or thunderstorm Saturday is between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. The chance of rain is 20%, and any rainfall should be light, with less than a tenth of an inch possible. Southwest winds will run around 5 to 9 mph.
Saturday night should be partly cloudy, with temperatures settling near 74 degrees. Sunday brings another mostly sunny and hotter day, with a high near 93 and a heat index as high as 103. A slight chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms returns, again at about 20%.
Heat Builds Through Midweek
Raleigh's hottest stretch arrives Monday through Wednesday, when highs are forecast to reach 94 degrees Monday and 96 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday and Wednesday look mostly sunny, with only limited rain chances, while overnight lows remain in the mid-70s.
The heat is expected to ease slightly late in the week, but Thursday and Friday will still be hot, with highs near 95 and 93 degrees. Rain chances increase somewhat by Friday afternoon, when the forecast calls for a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms. The City of Raleigh recommends staying hydrated, taking breaks from outdoor activity and using a cool public place if indoor temperatures become unsafe.
