Essex just got a new waterfront dining destination, and Raw & Refined North is arriving with a familiar Baltimore formula: seafood, cocktails and plenty of water views. The new restaurant is the second location for the Canton-based concept, giving diners on the east side another spot for a long lunch, sunset drinks or a plate of crab cakes.

WJZ was live from the Essex restaurant Monday, highlighting Raw & Refined North’s waterfront setting and menu. The CBS Baltimore segment shows off the new location as it settles into its first summer on the water.

Raw & Refined North Brings Lobster Rolls And Frozen Drinks

The Essex menu carries over several of the brand’s popular dishes, including lobster rolls, chicken Caesar tacos, burrata BLTs, tuna poke and classic crab cakes. Baltimore Magazine also reported that the location is reviving the former Crazy Tuna property on Hopkins Creek with icy Crushes, sparkling spritzes and frozen cocktails.

The restaurant’s owners say the new outpost is meant to bring the “flare” of the Canton waterfront operation to Essex, including its dockside atmosphere and outdoor dining appeal. Raw & Refined announced the expansion on its official website, describing Raw & Refined North as a summer addition to its growing operations.

A Second Waterfront Chapter For The Baltimore Brand

Raw & Refined first opened in Canton in 2019, establishing itself with coastal seafood, a large deck bar and a party-friendly waterfront setting. Hoodline previously covered the original restaurant’s debut, when the concept was still one of Baltimore’s newer waterfront arrivals.

Now, the brand is betting that the same combination of seafood plates, cold drinks and marina views can make Raw & Refined North an Essex summer fixture. In a waterfront dining market where the view is already doing some heavy lifting, the new location is adding another full menu to the competition.
