A multi-month investigation into fentanyl distribution across Reno and Sparks ended with police arresting a Stockton man and seizing enough fentanyl to represent roughly 236,295 potentially lethal doses. Investigators also recovered methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, ecstasy pills, cash, and a handgun during the case.
The Reno Police Department said detectives made multiple controlled purchases of fentanyl directly from 49-year-old Jimmie Parker before arresting him last Wednesday at a Reno-area hotel and casino. The Regional Narcotics Unit, a multi-agency task force that includes Reno and Sparks police detectives and Homeland Security Investigations, announced the arrest in a Reno police post.
The lethal-dose estimate comes from the Drug Enforcement Administration, which says approximately 2 milligrams of fentanyl can be a potentially lethal dose, though the risk varies by person and circumstances. The DEA has repeatedly warned that fentanyl can be deadly in extremely small amounts, making the seized quantity especially significant.
Search Turns Up Fentanyl, Meth, Cocaine And Cash
According to the department, detectives executed a search warrant at Parker's Reno residence and searched a vehicle associated with him. The operation yielded 472.59 grams of fentanyl, 148 grams of methamphetamine, 12.26 grams of cocaine, and 536.29 grams of marijuana.
Police also said Parker possessed 39 ecstasy pills and approximately $20,000 in U.S. currency when he was arrested. The quantities and variety of drugs led investigators to allege that the case involved more than personal possession.
Companion Arrested With Fentanyl And Handgun
Sabrina Lucio, a 32-year-old woman identified as Parker's companion, was present during the arrest, police said. Investigators allege that she possessed more than one gram of fentanyl and carried a concealed handgun without a permit.
Lucio was booked into the Washoe County Sheriff's Office on charges of possessing a controlled substance and carrying a concealed weapon without a permit. Parker was also booked into the county jail.
Drug Trafficking Charges Carry $2.05 Million Bail
Parker faces three counts of trafficking a controlled substance, three counts of possessing a controlled substance, and three counts of possessing a controlled substance with intent to sell. Police also listed a California felony drug-trafficking warrant in connection with his arrest and set bail at $2,050,000.
The allegations have not been proved in court, and an arrest is not a conviction. The investigation was announced Tuesday, with authorities providing no additional information about Parker's next court appearance or the alleged source of the drugs.
