A late-night argument outside a Santa Rosa bar ended with one man shot in the arm and a 39-year-old Rohnert Park resident in custody. Police say the shooting was gang-related, and the arrest investigation also turned up a loaded handgun and roughly half a pound of cocaine.
Officers responded yesterday to the 500 block of Barham Avenue after a man was struck once by gunfire. Responding officers applied a tourniquet before the victim was taken by ambulance to a hospital, according to an update from the Santa Rosa Police Department.

Detectives tracked the suspect onto Highway 101
Police said the victim and suspects had a verbal altercation in a bar parking lot after drinking, and detectives later obtained surveillance video of the shooting. Investigators identified Edward Joseph Sciutto as the suspected shooter, then located a vehicle he was driving on southbound Highway 101 and made a high-risk traffic stop, according to the department.
Sciutto was taken into custody without incident. Investigators then served a search warrant at a residence connected to him and recovered a loaded 9mm firearm along with about a half-pound of cocaine, police said.
Barham Avenue has seen another gang-related shooting
The latest shooting occurred in an area that has drawn police attention before. In 2024, Hoodline reported that a 26-year-old man was shot in the shoulder during an argument on Barham Avenue that investigators also considered gang-related; police have not said the two cases are connected.
Police list attempted murder and weapons allegations
According to the Santa Rosa Police Department, Sciutto was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, participating in a criminal street gang, a gang enhancement, being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance. Police also said Sciutto has gang ties and previously served prison time for a gang-related stabbing in 2010.
The allegations are not a conviction. California Courts explains that a person accused of a crime is presumed innocent unless prosecutors prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, and formal charging decisions are made through the criminal court process.
