A white work van appears to have left behind a piece of itself — and a badly damaged fence — after a hit-and-run near 92nd and Cleveland in West Allis. Police say the vehicle’s roof rack became tangled in a resident’s gate and fence, then tore away as the van pulled out. Now investigators are hoping someone recognizes a work van with a conspicuously missing roof rack.
The West Allis Police Department said Monday that it is investigating the incident under case 26-30823. The suspect vehicle reportedly pulled into a resident’s driveway near S. 92nd Street and W. Cleveland Avenue, where the collision caused extensive damage to the property.
Police Looking For A White Van With A Missing Roof Rack
Investigators describe the vehicle as a white work van, possibly a Ford Transit. The roof rack was torn from the van, giving witnesses a potentially useful clue if they notice a suddenly altered vehicle or fresh damage around the roof.
Traffic investigator Pete Borree is asking witnesses to call him at (414) 302-8127. The West Allis Police Department lists (414) 302-8000 as its non-emergency number for general police matters.

Anyone with information can also submit an anonymous tip through the P3 Tips app or call West Allis/West Milwaukee Crime Stoppers at (414) 476-CASH, according to the Village of West Milwaukee. The program says tipsters can remain anonymous while providing information that may help investigators identify the driver.
