Sacramento woke up Friday, August 14, under cloudy skies and temperatures around 61 degrees, but the gray start will not last. Skies should brighten quickly, with a mostly sunny afternoon and a high near 82 degrees — a relatively gentle August day by Sacramento standards.
Afternoon Sunshine Brings Light South Winds
The National Weather Service forecast calls for south-southwest winds of 6 to 9 mph, with no rain expected in the city. The forecast keeps Sacramento dry and comfortable through Friday night, when temperatures should fall back to around 57 degrees under mostly clear skies, according to the National Weather Service.
Saturday will be sunny and warmer, with a high near 87 degrees and another mild night around 58. Sunday pushes temperatures into the low 90s, reaching about 91 degrees, while winds remain generally light from the southwest.
Warm-Up Builds Into Next Week
The weekend heat will ease only slightly Monday, when Sacramento is expected to reach about 88 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Highs then rise to around 90 Tuesday, 92 Wednesday and 91 Thursday, with overnight lows mostly in the upper 50s and low 60s.
Rain chances remain essentially nonexistent across the city, topping out at just 1% on a few days next week. For outdoor plans, Friday morning may call for a light layer, while afternoons from Saturday onward look increasingly suited to shade, water and the kind of strategic air-conditioning breaks Sacramento knows well.
