Sacramento is waking up clear and around 61 degrees Saturday, but the comfortable start will not last long. Temperatures are expected to climb toward 95 degrees by late afternoon, setting up a hot, dry weekend across the capital.
Saturday Heat Arrives Fast
According to the National Weather Service, Saturday will stay sunny with light south-southwest winds of 2 to 6 mph and almost no chance of rain. The hourly forecast shows temperatures reaching the low 80s around noon, then rising through the upper 80s and low 90s before peaking near 95 degrees.
Saturday night should be mostly clear, with temperatures dropping to around 62 degrees. Sunday will bring another high near 95 under partly sunny skies, followed by an overnight low near 60.
Low-90s Stick Around Next Week
The heat eases only slightly Monday through Thursday, with highs near 93, 93, 93 and 94 degrees. Friday looks mostly sunny and a touch cooler near 92, while overnight lows generally range from the upper 50s to the low 60s.
The weekend setup is notably warmer than the cooler outlook reported by Hoodline earlier this month, when Sacramento was expected to settle into the upper 80s. For now, the forecast has shifted back toward a classic late-summer Sacramento pattern: bright skies, dry air and afternoons that demand a little planning.
Dry Conditions Bring Regional Fire Concerns
Relative humidity in Sacramento is expected to fall into the low 20s during the hottest part of Saturday afternoon. The National Weather Service has flagged elevated fire-weather conditions in the Burney Basin because of low humidity and breezier winds, though no watches, warnings or advisories are posted for the Sacramento forecast area.
For weekend outdoor plans, morning and evening will be the more comfortable windows. Bring water, use shade during the afternoon peak and check on children, older adults and pets as the temperature climbs.
