The National Weather Service Sacramento forecast calls for sunny skies and light south to southwest winds Thursday, with temperatures reaching around 100 degrees. The heat will ease only gradually after sunset, with a clear overnight low near 62.
Friday brings another step up, with a high near 102 and dry conditions across the city. The latest outlook is a sharper escalation than Hoodline's earlier forecast from late July, which had already warned of a triple-digit stretch.
Saturday Looks Like The Peak
Saturday is expected to be the hottest day of the run, with a high near 104 under sunny skies and little wind to take the edge off. Sunday should remain dangerously hot at about 103, while overnight lows in the mid-60s will offer some relief but not a true reset.
There is no meaningful rain in the Sacramento forecast through Wednesday. Any isolated showers or thunderstorms this weekend are expected mainly near the eastern Sierra crest, well away from the city.
Dry Heat Raises Fire Weather Concern
The weather service is calling for Moderate to locally Major HeatRisk from Friday through the weekend, with the greatest concern in foothills and mountain areas. Elevated fire-weather conditions are also expected through Sunday in the northern Sacramento Valley, surrounding terrain, Sierra foothills and Burney Basin as heat combines with very low humidity.
For Sacramento residents, the practical move is to shift strenuous outdoor activity toward the morning or evening, drink water before feeling thirsty and check on older adults, young children and anyone without reliable cooling. There are no watches or warnings listed for the Sacramento area, but the heat will still be serious during the afternoon hours.
A Modest Cooldown Arrives Next Week
Temperatures finally ease to around 97 on Monday and Tuesday, followed by a high near 96 Wednesday. That is cooler than the weekend, but still hot enough to keep heat precautions in the daily forecast.
