The advisory calls for valley highs between 101 and 107 degrees and warns of moderate to major heat risk, according to the National Weather Service. Residents are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned spaces when possible, avoid strenuous outdoor activity during the afternoon, and check on relatives and neighbors.
Monday Brings The First Break
Sunday night should remain clear, with a low near 65 degrees. Monday will still be hot but cooler, topping out near 96 degrees, with southwest winds of 5 to 10 mph and gusts up to 20 mph.
90s Linger Through Next Weekend
The gradual cooldown continues through the week, with highs near 96 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday, 91 Thursday, 90 Friday, and 91 Saturday. Skies should stay mostly sunny, with no meaningful chance of rain in Sacramento through the forecast period.
Dry conditions and low humidity will keep fire-weather concerns elevated in parts of Northern California through Monday, particularly where winds increase. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms are possible along the Sierra crest south of Highway 50, but Sacramento's forecast remains dry.
