Saturday will stay sunny and dry, with temperatures rising rapidly through the afternoon and south-southwest winds generally between 2 and 6 mph. According to the National Weather Service Sacramento, the advisory includes Sacramento and nearby valley communities because hot afternoons and warm overnight lows could create Moderate to Major HeatRisk.
The Hottest Hours Arrive Late Afternoon
Hourly forecasts put Sacramento near 97 degrees by midafternoon, around 101 by 4 p.m. and at the forecast high near 102 late Saturday afternoon. Sunday should be the peak of the stretch, with a high near 104, nearly calm winds and no meaningful rain chance in the city.
Relief Builds Slowly Next Week
Overnight lows will only fall to around 67 Saturday night and 65 Sunday night, so the city may not fully reset between hot afternoons. A gradual cooldown follows, with highs near 97 Monday and Tuesday, 96 Wednesday, and 91 Thursday and Friday, while nighttime lows ease into the low 60s.
Heat Safety Takes Priority
Forecasters advise drinking plenty of fluids, staying in air conditioning when possible, avoiding prolonged sun exposure and checking on relatives and neighbors who may be more vulnerable to the heat. Outdoor chores and exercise are best moved to early morning or evening, while dry air will keep elevated fire-weather conditions in parts of the broader Sacramento Valley and foothills through Monday.
