San Antonio shoppers are getting a 12th Ulta Beauty location this week, with a soft opening set for Friday at La Plaza del Norte on the North Side. The 125 Northwest Loop 410 store, in Suite 501, will open for normal shopping Friday without any special festivities, taking over a space that once housed a David's Bridal storefront.
Store experience manager Taylor Lynn Flores confirmed the soft-opening schedule to MySA, saying the new store will run Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Monday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. A full grand-opening celebration, complete with a ribbon-cutting, is planned for Aug. 14 at around 9 or 9:30 a.m., according to the outlet.
A Salon, Illuminated Mirrors and Wide Aisles
Flores described the finished space as one built for browsing, with wide aisles, illuminated mirrors and an in-store salon, alongside brand offerings that include Morphe and Clinique. "We are so excited to show off such a beautiful store that we have been working so hard to get ready," Flores said.
The building didn't start out as a beauty destination. Ulta submitted paperwork to renovate the former David's Bridal building in 2025, and construction ran from April 2026 through late July 2026, with project investors putting roughly $873,000 into the 12,044-square-foot buildout, MySA reported. David's Bridal had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in April 2023 before relocating its San Antonio operations to the Northwoods Shopping Center on North Loop 1604 this past January.
Part of a Freshly Sold Power Center
La Plaza del Norte itself changed hands recently. The 320,036-square-foot power center — anchored by Best Buy, Ross Dress for Less, Sierra, Total Wine & More, Floor & Decor and DSW, according to DLC Management — sits directly across Loop 410 from North Star Mall. DLC Management acquired the property in June as part of a $255 million, six-property portfolio purchase from Kite Realty Group, per GlobeNewswire.
Ulta's Bigger San Antonio Push
The new store adds to a run of local investment for the cosmetics chain. Ulta spent roughly $1 million in July 2025 renovating two existing Alamo City locations — $601,300 at Alamo Ranch to add a new Beauty Bar and $400,000 at Alamo Quarry Market, per the outlet's earlier reporting. San Antonio also hosted Ulta's first-ever "Ulta Beauty World" in April 2025, a sold-out event at the Henry B. González Convention Center that drew nearly 200 cosmetics brands, according to BizBash.
Closing the Gap for Castle Hills Shoppers
The La Plaza del Norte location is expected to improve access for shoppers near Castle Hills, who previously had to drive to the Alamo Quarry Market store for their nearest Ulta fix. Once the new location opens, San Antonio will have 12 Ulta Beauty stores, part of a national footprint that reached 1,539 locations as of June 30, according to ScrapeHero.
A Corridor In Flux
The opening also lands amid broader shifts around Ulta's retail strategy and the surrounding corridor. Target announced last year it would wind down its shop-in-shop deal with Ulta by this month, pushing the chain toward more standalone stores like this one. Ulta has also been expanding into surrounding suburbs, including a planned store at the Alsatian Oaks development in Castroville. Meanwhile, the Texas Department of Transportation has proposed reconfiguring frontage roads and ramps along Loop 410 near San Pedro Avenue and North Star Mall, aiming to untangle the busy retail corridor that shoppers use to reach La Plaza del Norte.
