Heat Builds Through Sunday Afternoon
The National Weather Service expects temperatures to climb from the low 80s late Sunday morning into the upper 90s by midafternoon, reaching the day’s peak late in the afternoon. South-southeast winds around 5 mph will offer little relief as sunny skies settle in. Forecasters said a few spots along the Interstate 35 corridor could briefly reach heat-advisory criteria, though no advisory is currently posted.
Warm Nights Offer Little Recovery
Sunday night will remain mostly clear, with temperatures falling only to around 77 degrees. Heat index values could still reach 105 early in the night, and south winds may gust up to 20 mph. Monday, August 17, will bring another sunny day with a high near 99 and heat index values as high as 103.
Triple-Digit Temperatures Continue All Week
The heat does not meaningfully let up from Tuesday, August 18, through Saturday, August 22. Highs are forecast to range from 99 to 101 degrees each day, while overnight lows stay in the upper 70s, with essentially no chance of meaningful rain through the weekend.

People spending time outdoors should limit strenuous activity during the afternoon, drink water regularly and take frequent breaks in shade or air conditioning. The City of San Antonio recommends staying cool indoors when possible and checking on older adults, children, people with medical conditions and neighbors who may not have reliable air conditioning.
