A teenager was still missing this morning after firefighters responded to a swimmer-in-distress call at Caswell Memorial State Park along the Stanislaus River, officials said. The search remained active as the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office led the response.
According to KCRA, the emergency call came in yesterday, and Manteca Fire Department crews handled the response.
Search Continues Along The Stanislaus River
Caswell Memorial State Park is near Ripon and sits along the Stanislaus River, where visitors can swim, fish and float, according to California State Parks. The park's wooded river setting can make water emergencies especially difficult for rescuers to assess quickly.
KCRA's report said the search was ongoing this morning. Authorities had not publicly detailed what led to the swimmer-in-distress call or whether anyone else was injured.
