According to the National Weather Service in Jacksonville, southwest winds will run 5 to 13 mph, with gusts up to 17 mph. Stronger storms could produce 40 to 55 mph gusts, brief heavy downpours and localized flooding, while rainfall totals of a quarter-inch to half-inch are possible.
Storms Build Through Saturday Afternoon
The morning should stay mostly dry, with temperatures reaching about 90 degrees around midday. Rain chances rise quickly after 1 p.m., peaking near 60% through the midafternoon as thunderstorms move across Northeast Florida.
Lightning, sudden downpours and gusty winds will be the main concerns for people with outdoor plans. The heaviest storms may be capable of briefly reducing visibility and flooding streets, especially where drainage is poor.
Sunday And Monday Keep The Wet Pattern Going
Sunday will be somewhat cooler, with a high near 88, but thunderstorms become even more likely, with an 80% chance of rain. Repeated storms could produce 1 to 3 inches west of I-75, with locally heavier totals from slow-moving cells; Jacksonville may see less rain overall, but urban and low-lying areas can still flood.
Monday remains unsettled, with a high near 89 and another 80% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Tuesday rebounds to around 92 degrees with a 60% storm chance, while afternoon rain chances ease to about 30% to 40% from Wednesday through Friday.
Beach And Boating Note
Beachgoers should use extra caution Sunday, when a moderate rip current risk is expected at area beaches. A Small Craft Advisory is also scheduled for local marine waters from 2 p.m. Sunday to 8 a.m. Monday, with thunderstorms potentially bringing stronger and erratic winds.
