Seattle's most unusually shaped celebrity has sold out one Mariners ticket deal — and now gets a second night. The team added another chance for fans to buy a specially priced ticket and claim a Jimothy T-shirt, with each sale also sending $2 to the Ballard Food Bank.
The original Jimothy-themed offer for Wednesday's game against the Detroit Tigers sold out, so the Mariners extended the promotion to Friday's home game, according to FOX 13 Seattle. Fans who purchase through the special offer receive a Mariners-branded Jimothy shirt, while the team makes a $2 contribution per ticket to the Ballard Food Bank.
How To Claim The Second Jimothy Chance
The Seattle Mariners say the added offer includes a specially priced Main Level or View Level ticket for Friday's game and a Jimothy T-shirt. The deal is available online only, must be purchased by noon Friday, and cannot be bought at the box office or team store.
FOX 13 reports that shirt sizing will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis, and fans must redeem the item at the top of the left-field ramp before the end of the third inning. The tickets also cannot be resold, with the Mariners warning that attempted resale could lead to deactivation.
Seattle's Raccoon Celebrity Keeps Moving Up
Jimothy became a Ballard sensation after videos showed the compact-looking raccoon roaming Seattle neighborhoods, with clips collecting millions of views, as detailed by FOX 13 Seattle. Experts believe his unusual shape may be linked to short-spine syndrome, a rare condition that compresses the spine and gives him his unmistakably round appearance.
A veterinarian who reviewed video told MyNorthwest that the diagnosis remains unofficial because Jimothy has not been examined. Wildlife officials say he appears able to walk, climb and find food on his own, while advising people to admire him from a distance and avoid feeding or approaching him.
The Mariners had already brought Jimothy into the ballpark spotlight through a costumed appearance in the seventh-inning Salmon Run, according to Axios Seattle. Now the Ballard raccoon has something even more valuable than a viral clip: a two-game homestand and a shirt fans are scrambling to get.
