Seattle is getting the kind of August Tuesday that makes a light jacket useful at breakfast and unnecessary by lunch. Boeing Field reported 61°F and partly cloudy skies shortly before dawn, with clouds expected to give way to sunshine and a high near 76°F.
Morning Clouds Give Way To Sun
Temperatures will rise from the upper 50s into the mid-60s during the morning before reaching the mid-70s in the afternoon. Winds should stay light, generally 1 to 5 mph from the north, while rain chances remain close to zero.
Tonight will be mostly clear, with temperatures dipping to around 59°F before edging back toward the low 60s overnight. The National Weather Service keeps Seattle dry through the weekend, making for favorable conditions for evening walks, outdoor dining and lingering summer plans.
Cooler Wednesday, Warmer Weekend
Wednesday will be a touch cooler, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 75°F. Showers and thunderstorms could develop over higher elevations in the Cascades Wednesday afternoon and evening, but Seattle's city forecast is expected to remain dry.
Thursday rebounds to around 78°F, followed by a mostly sunny Friday near 81°F. Saturday and Sunday should stay partly sunny with highs near 79°F, while Monday remains mild near 76°F with a slight chance of light rain after 5 p.m.
Strait Winds Return Tuesday Evening
Boaters should note that a Small Craft Advisory is scheduled from 5 p.m. Tuesday through 5 a.m. Wednesday for the central and eastern Strait of Juan de Fuca. Seattle's land forecast has no comparable warning, but stronger westerly winds and rougher water are expected in the Strait.
