Las Vegas is starting Monday already near 87°F under clear skies, and the valley is headed for another day of punishing heat. Temperatures will climb to about 107°F before easing only slightly this afternoon, while very dry air keeps conditions harsh for anyone spending time outside.
Small Storm Chance Arrives Monday Afternoon
The best chance for isolated showers or thunderstorms comes between roughly 3 and 4 p.m., with activity most likely along and south of Interstate 15 and near higher terrain east and south of the valley. The chance of rain is only about 10%, but storms could still produce sudden gusty winds, lightning or a brief downpour.
South to southeast winds will increase through the afternoon, reaching 10 to 13 mph with gusts up to about 21 mph. The National Weather Service says outflow from nearby storms could cause additional wind shifts into the evening, even where rain does not fall.
Little Relief Overnight As Heat Builds Midweek
Monday night will be mostly clear, but the low will stay around 84°F, with temperatures potentially rising a bit overnight. Tuesday should remain sunny with another high near 107°F, followed by the hottest stretch of the forecast: 110°F Wednesday, 109°F Thursday and 108°F Friday.
The weekend brings only a modest change, with a high near 107°F Saturday and 104°F Sunday. Overnight lows will remain in the mid-to-upper 80s, so the valley will not get much chance to cool down after sunset.
Heat Safety Remains The Main Concern
Residents and visitors should limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day, drink water regularly and check on people who may be especially vulnerable to heat. Las Vegas officials also advise using air-conditioned public places when needed and never leaving children or pets in parked vehicles, as outlined by the city of Las Vegas.
