Denver is starting Friday with clear skies, but the weekend forecast is anything but mild. Temperatures will climb from the upper 90s Friday to around 101 degrees Saturday, when a Heat Advisory will cover the metro area and nearby communities.
Friday Brings Smoke And Near-100 Heat
Areas of smoke will linger across Denver on Friday as skies remain sunny and temperatures reach about 97 degrees. Winds should stay light, generally from the east at 2 to 7 mph, with no rain expected, according to the National Weather Service Denver/Boulder.
Friday night will remain mostly clear but smoky, with temperatures settling near 68 degrees. Smoke could also reduce visibility at times, especially for drivers and travelers near the metro area's airports.
Saturday Is The Hot Spot
Saturday will be the hottest day of the stretch, with a forecast high near 101 degrees and a Heat Advisory in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. for Denver, the western suburbs and parts of the Urban Corridor, including Boulder. The advisory warns that temperatures from 98 to 102 degrees may cause heat illness.
Residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in air conditioning when possible and avoid strenuous outdoor activity during the afternoon. Lightweight clothing, shade and regular check-ins with older neighbors or people who may be especially vulnerable to heat can make a meaningful difference.
Saturday night will be partly cloudy with a low around 69 degrees, offering only modest relief. Sunday remains hot and mostly sunny near 99 degrees, with a small chance of afternoon storms, while the broader region could see stronger fire-weather concerns as winds increase in some higher and more open areas.
Storm Chances Build Midweek
Monday and Tuesday will stay very warm, with highs near 98 and 97 degrees, respectively. The forecast brings a better chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon Monday, followed by a slight storm chance Tuesday afternoon.
Storm chances increase Wednesday, when Denver could reach about 93 degrees, then rise further Thursday as showers and thunderstorms become likely. Thursday's high is expected to fall to around 84 degrees, making it the first notable break from the weekend heat.
