A Spring woman with an active misdemeanor warrant now faces additional charges after authorities say she fought officers during her arrest, head-butting a sergeant and spitting at a law-enforcement officer.
Deputies responded Tuesday to a report of a suspicious woman in the 6900 block of Cypresswood Drive and located Ariana Anderson, according to Constable Mark Herman's office. Investigators said Anderson resisted while deputies were taking her into custody, leading to the alleged head-butting and spitting incidents.
Anderson Booked On Two Public-Servant Charges
Anderson, 29, was booked into the Harris County Jail and charged with assault on a peace officer and harassment of a public servant. Her total bond was set at $15,000 through the 263rd District Court, according to the arrest update.
The constable's office also alleged that Anderson threatened to harm another deputy's family. Constable Mark Herman said deputies put themselves in harm's way every day and that violence or threats against law-enforcement officers will not be tolerated.
Spitting Allegation Could Carry Felony Consequences
Texas Penal Code describes harassment of a public servant as intentionally causing saliva or another bodily fluid to contact a public servant while that person is performing official duties, and classifies the offense as a third-degree felony. The allegations against Anderson have not been tested in court, and she is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
