Pittsburgh is waking up to cloudy skies, scattered rain showers and temperatures near 68 degrees Monday morning. The city should warm to around 87 degrees by afternoon, with isolated showers and thunderstorms possible later. No watches or warnings are in effect.
Morning Showers Give Way To Muggy Heat
Scattered showers are expected through about 2 p.m. Monday, with the best coverage likely north of Pittsburgh before activity becomes more isolated during the afternoon. Winds should generally stay light at 1 to 8 mph, shifting from the south toward the southwest and west.
The latest update from the National Weather Service puts more emphasis on the morning rain and trims Monday's high from earlier expectations. It is a meaningful update from Sunday's outlook, which focused mainly on the heat building across the region.
Tuesday And Wednesday Bring The Week’s Hottest Air
Tuesday turns mostly sunny and hotter, with a high near 92 degrees before scattered showers and thunderstorms become possible after 3 p.m. Humidity will push heat index values into the mid- to upper 90s, making errands and outdoor work feel more demanding than the thermometer suggests.
Wednesday is expected to be the hottest day of the stretch, reaching about 93 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Rain chances are relatively low during the day, but a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms arrives Wednesday night as the pattern begins to turn unsettled.
Storm Chances Rise Before A Cooler Weekend
Thursday carries the week’s highest rain chance, at about 50% during the day and again Thursday night, with a high near 91. Forecasters say stronger storms are possible late Wednesday and Thursday, so outdoor plans may need a backup option even though no severe-weather alert is currently posted.
Temperatures ease Friday, when the high should reach 84 degrees alongside a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms. The weekend looks much calmer, with mostly sunny skies and highs near 82 degrees Saturday and Sunday; overnight lows fall to about 61 to 64 degrees.
Plan For Heat, Then Keep An Eye On The Sky
An umbrella will be useful Monday morning, while the bigger comfort concern arrives Tuesday and Wednesday as heat and humidity build. Drink water, take breaks from direct sun and head indoors promptly if thunder is heard, especially during the late-week storm window.
