A 26-year-old Sugarcreek man died Sunday morning after his motorcycle collided with an SUV and then struck a second vehicle in Tuscarawas County. The crash unfolded at a rural intersection on State Route 39, where the Ohio State Highway Patrol is still piecing together what happened.
The crash occurred around 10:37 a.m. at State Route 39 and County Road 77, also known as Prysi Road, in Sugarcreek Township, according to Cleveland 19 News. Marcus Miller was riding west on a black 2011 Kawasaki EX250 when an eastbound red 2016 Mazda CX-5, driven by 84-year-old Martha Egan of Dover, turned left onto County Road 77.
State traffic data shows State Route 39 was among Tuscarawas County’s busiest crash corridors in 2025, recording 257 crashes, behind only Interstate 77’s 291, according to the Ohio Traffic Safety Office. Those countywide figures do not establish what caused Sunday’s collision, which remains under investigation.
Miller’s motorcycle struck the right side of Egan’s Mazda before sliding left of center and hitting the left front of a white 2023 Nissan Rogue traveling east. The Rogue was driven by 49-year-old Tiffany Ervin of Coshocton; Miller was pronounced dead at the scene, while patrol officials said he was wearing a helmet and protective clothing.
Other Drivers Were Not Injured
Egan was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured, according to the patrol. Ervin and her passenger were also belted and escaped injury.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s New Philadelphia Post is leading the investigation, with assistance from the Sugarcreek Police Department, Sugarcreek Fire Department, Ohio Department of Transportation, Rosenberry Towing and the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office, Cleveland 19 News reported. Authorities have not announced any citations or charges.
