Friday Brings More Heat And Afternoon Storms
Friday looks hotter, with a high near 97 and a heat index up to 108. Scattered showers and thunderstorms could develop after 2 p.m., with a 40% chance of rain and the best odds arriving during the afternoon.
Storm Chances Stay Limited Through Early Next Week
Saturday will also reach about 97 degrees, with scattered afternoon storms and a 30% rain chance. Sunday should top out near 96 with isolated storms, while Monday is forecast to be sunny and near 97; another round of scattered storms may return Tuesday afternoon.
The National Weather Service’s active Heat Advisory Thursday covers Coastal and Inland Levy County from noon to 7 p.m., not Tampa, but local heat will still be intense. Limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day, drink water regularly and check on people and pets who may have trouble staying cool.
