A head-on crash on Alton Darby Creek Road in Prairie Township left one driver dead and another hospitalized Wednesday afternoon, marking the third fatal traffic collision investigated by the Franklin County Sheriff's Office in the unincorporated township within roughly a four-week span. The crash was reported about 4:26 p.m. on the 1000 block of Alton Darby Creek Road, according to authorities, after a 2005 Ford Escape traveling south crossed into the northbound lane and collided head-on with a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado.
The Escape driver, who was the vehicle's only occupant, was taken to Doctors West Hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead by hospital staff at 5:37 p.m., according to WSYX. The Silverado driver, also the sole occupant of that vehicle, was transported to the same hospital in stable condition. Prairie Township Fire crews and medics responded to the scene, with Prairie Medic 241 carrying the Escape driver and Prairie Medic 242 transporting the Silverado driver to Doctors West Hospital.
