First responders were dispatched just before 5 a.m. after reports came in of a vehicle striking a pole in the area, according to 9News. What initially looked like a routine traffic crash shifted quickly once officers discovered the two gunshot victims inside the vehicle. Medical personnel pronounced one victim dead at the scene, while the surviving victim was taken to a hospital for emergency treatment, the station reported.
Thornton police shut down Colorado Boulevard from East 100th Avenue to Thornton Parkway as investigators worked the scene, per Denver7, which reported that the closure would remain in place for an extended period.
