A fast-moving grass-and-brush fire raced along the railroad tracks on Fort Worth’s east side yesterday, damaging fences, vehicles, sheds, and at least one home before crews brought the sprawling response under control. Four adults were displaced from the house fire, but no injuries were reported.
The Fort Worth Fire Department said its alarm office began receiving multiple calls just after 1 p.m. about flames running along Vickery from S. Ayer’s down to Tierney. More than 60 firefighters were used to control and extinguish the fires, and the response lasted more than three hours.

Fire Spread Along Vickery Railroad Tracks
The flames stretched crews across both sides of the tracks and into nearby structures. Fort Worth firefighters called a brush alarm to bring in more resources, while a train was stopped so crews could operate safely.
A loaned brush truck made a stand on the house fire from the opposite side of the tracks as firefighters worked to keep the related grass and structure fires from spreading. The department said the flames damaged several fences, cars, sheds and one home.
Four Adults Displaced, Hot Spots Extinguished
The house fire displaced four adults, according to the Fort Worth Fire Department. No injuries were reported, and firefighters eventually extinguished all hot spots spanning the long fire line.
