Trader Joe's is bringing its first-ever Osceola County store to Kissimmee, planting a 12,500-square-foot location inside The Loop West shopping center along Osceola Parkway. No opening date has been announced yet, but the retailer has already filed permits and locked in an address at 2001 Osceola Pkwy, putting the beloved grocery chain within reach of a fast-growing corner of Central Florida that has never had one.
The filing, submitted April 21, was first reported by WhatNow, which detailed the store's placement inside The Loop West, a retail center that already includes tenants like JCPenney, Burlington, Ulta Beauty, Bonefish Grill, BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse, and Pei Wei Asian Kitchen. That shopping center sits adjacent to the larger 400,000-square-foot main Loop complex near Thacker Road and Dyer Boulevard, property owned and managed by North American Development Group, according to The Orlando Real. Early site plans reviewed by the outlet put the buildout cost at $958,000, with the finished store expected to employ between 50 and 100 crew members.
Ending a 15-to-20-Mile Grocery Run
Until now, Osceola County residents craving Trader Joe's staples, frozen foods, canned goods, or prepared meals had to drive roughly 15 to 20 miles north to the chain's existing Central Florida stores in Dr. Phillips or Winter Park, per WKMG. That gap is exactly what the Kissimmee store is positioned to close, given its location just east of the Walt Disney World Resort corridor — a spot that puts it within reach of local neighborhoods as well as Disney cast members and tourists passing through, according to Disney Food Blog.
Local Instagram account OrlandoWithMario, which published a post about the planned Osceola County location, called the project a big win for the county. The account also noted that when brands with demographic research teams choose to enter a market, it often signals the area has reached a commercial tipping point — a read that lines up with what the numbers actually show.
A County Growing Fast Enough to Notice
Osceola County's population grew 23.9 percent between April 2020 and July 2025, climbing from 388,647 to an estimated 481,718 residents, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Between 2024 and 2025 alone, the county added 15,800 residents — the 17th-highest numeric gain of any county nationwide — driven largely by people moving in from other states, per USAFacts.
The county's median household income sits at $72,637 with a median age of 37.1, and Hispanic residents make up 56 percent of the population as of 2024, according to demographic data compiled by Cubit Planning. That growth and consumer profile helps explain why Trader Joe's, a chain whose buyers say they search the world for exceptional products likely to attract customers and lean on a rigorous tasting-panel process to vet quality and value, has finally set its sights on Kissimmee.
Part of a Bigger Central Florida Push
The Kissimmee store is not an isolated bet. Trader Joe's is also finalizing a 12,500-square-foot location at Trelago Market in Maitland, which received Development Review Committee approval in June, as The Orlando Real reported — a project Hoodline previously covered when the Maitland site changed hands. At the same time, the grocer is expanding into East Orange County with a store taking over a former Party City space at 1444 N. Alafaya Trail in Waterford Lakes, near UCF, a project Hoodline reported on when that site landed near campus.
The simultaneous rollout fits into a national growth strategy the chain launched in 2025, aiming to open more than 40 new neighborhood stores across the country in a single year, according to Disney Food Blog. For Osceola County shoppers who have spent years driving north for their grocery fix, the Kissimmee store means that wait is finally nearing its end, even without a confirmed opening date yet.
