A 45-year-old Las Vegas man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries Sunday night after an SUV struck him near the Strip, according to police. The crash happened on East Tropicana Avenue west of Koval Lane, where investigators say the pedestrian was crossing outside a marked or implied crosswalk.
What Police Say Happened
According to FOX5 Las Vegas, the collision occurred around 8:08 p.m. Sunday as a 2016 Land Rover Discovery traveled east on Tropicana Avenue. Police said the pedestrian entered the Land Rover’s path and was struck by the SUV’s front end, projecting him onto the roadway.
Emergency medical personnel transported the man to UMC Hospital, where staff determined his injuries were life-threatening. The driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment, while LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section continued working to determine the full circumstances.
A Repeat Trouble Spot Near The Strip
The same stretch of Tropicana saw a fatal pedestrian crash in August 2025. In its 2025 release, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said a pedestrian crossing outside a marked or implied crosswalk was struck east of Koval Lane and later died at a hospital.
