Two men are dead after an apparent murder-suicide inside a home in Palm Coast's B-Section early Tuesday morning, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office. Deputies say the shooting happened shortly after 2 a.m. and that it poses no ongoing threat to the public.
The Flagler County Sheriff's Office told WFTV that the two men died following what investigators are calling an apparent murder-suicide at the residence. As of publication, authorities had not released additional information, including the identities of the men or what led up to the shooting. Where the Shooting Happened
The home sits in the B-Section, part of Palm Coast's Indian Trails neighborhood on the city's west side. It is not the first time gunfire has rattled the neighborhood this year. On June 12, deputies investigated another shooting at a B-Section home that left one person hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, and law enforcement said at the time that the incident was isolated to the residence and posed no ongoing community threat, per WKMG. A Rare but Not Unprecedented Tragedy
Murder-suicides remain uncommon in Palm Coast. City law enforcement records show the city had not recorded one since 2011 until an incident less than a year before Tuesday's shooting, according to FlaglerLive. On November 12, 2025, deputies responding to a welfare check on Pinelynn Lane in the city's P-Section found that an 85-year-old husband had fatally shot his 74-year-old wife before killing himself, a case that unfolded after family members grew unable to reach the couple.
Suspicious death and homicide cases in Palm Coast are handled by the Flagler County Sheriff's Office Major Case Unit and Crime Scene Investigation unit, with autopsies conducted by the Medical Examiner's Office in St. Augustine, which covers death investigations for Flagler County. It is unclear whether that office has yet examined the two men killed Tuesday.
Countywide Crime Trends and a Recent Spike in Domestic Calls
The shooting comes even as broader crime statistics in Flagler County have trended downward. The sheriff's office reported that overall crime fell 32% in 2025 compared to 2024, with crimes against persons dropping 27%, from 1,121 cases to 817. Palm Coast's 2026 National Community Survey found that 96% of respondents feel safe in their neighborhoods during the day, and 88% feel safe from violent crime — a nine-percentage-point jump from 2024. Still, days before Tuesday's shooting, the sheriff's office reported responding to four domestic violence calls in a single day, ranging from verbal arguments to a domestic stabbing incident involving a juvenile, reflecting a brief surge in residential disputes across the county this month.
